Start packing the right way
Before you decide to do your packing yourself, consider the responsibilities. Sure, it takes time and energy to get the job done right, but doing it yourself can be a real money-saver, even if you’re paying a mover to load the truck. For example, if you’ve hired a professional mover or removalists, you can still opt to pack all or some of the goods yourself, thus trimming the price. To find out just how much you can trim, ask your Camco Removals moving coordinator when you get an on-site estimate.
Moving is an exciting time, but packing up your house can be a daunting task. We'll break the packing process down into bite-sized pieces with practical tips. (so you're not still throwing items into a box as the movers arrive). With a good system unpacking at your new place will be a breeze too.
Get your packing materials ready
The general rule of thumb is: however many boxes you think you'll need, double it. Use an online tool such as this packing calculator to get an accurate estimate.
You'll also need a good supply of sturdy tape, sharp scissors, Vivids and things like bubble wrap and newspaper to wrap your breakable items in.
Pack up the kitchen first
The kitchen is by far the most complicated room to pack, especially with so many fragile and oddly shaped belongings. PLUS, it's a great excuse to eat out while all the crockery is packed away!
Once everything is moved into the new house, unpack the bedroom first.
Sleep takes priority! Whether you nap or get to bed early, when you're absolutely exhausted there's nothing worse than realising you've got a mattrass to unpack let alone a bed to make!! After the bedroom, priority number 2 should be unpacking the kitchen as this will rid you of most of the boxes.
